MotoGP Bulletin 06/21: Aleix 7th at Mugello (and in the Championship)!

“At Mugello you don’t sleep,” say the die-hards of the Tuscan stage of the MotoGP. But this year it’s not the firecrackers, the music or the general enthusiasm; this year we don’t sleep because of Jason Duspasquier. To him – before any consideration of the track results – we turn our heartfelt and deeply saddened thoughts. In the name of the sport we love, Aprilia Racing and the #bearacer club stand by the family, the team and the friends of the young rider in his memory.

Mugello is that track where you know where you start from and you don’t know where you’ll end up… but sometimes you don’t even know where you’re starting from. If we had asked ourselves this question last Thursday, we would have said that the RS-GP, amongst the hills of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, has never really excelled. But then came Aleix Espargaró to prove us wrong. Back on track after undergoing arm pump surgery, the No. 41 pulled out of his hat a 4th place qualifier, just 35 hundredths from the pole that demolished the record of Mugello…
