If you’re part of the #bearacer club you never know what “racing” surprise there may be in store for you, but finding yourself trying out the RSV4 RF and Tuono V4 1100 between the kerbs on the track, shoulder to shoulder with a triple world motorcycle racing champion would be enough to surprise even the most blasé of our fans!
That’s precisely what happened on the 14th May at the Mugello International Race Circuit when the members of the community that were taking part in the Aprilia Racers Days event suddenly found themselves in the very same pits as a very special racer indeed, none other than Loris Capirossi!
What was the best part, you ask? Well, Loris didn’t come along just to try out the V4 Aprilia bombers out on the track like all the other participants, but also to pick up his very own RSV4 RF… and he arrived complete with a van to load up the bike and take it home with him!
Seeing the eyes of a world champion shine like those of a child that is seeing his bike for the very first time is something that we won’t forget in a hurry, just as we won’t forget the group photos, the chats and the selfies. This was proper #bearacer club stuff that left us feeling as if we had just shared something truly special with a guy who is not just a bike racing legend, but more importantly a real diehard Aprilia fan just like the rest of us (after all, his “background” with the “Made in Noale” bikes even includes no less than a 1st-place finish in the 1998 250cc World Championship season).
Loris told us “Once a racer, always a racer”, but we feel that we should add “Once an Aprilia fan, always an Aprilia fan”!
But the day’s highlights didn’t end there because, to the absolute and exclusive amazement of the fans, there were also two incredible RSV4 RFs fitted with Factory Works Kits that flashed past them out on the track (that’s right, the ones with the “wings”!). 215 HP and weighing 10 Kgs lighter, enough to leave even Capirossi open mouthed, so much so that he couldn’t resist taking one out on the track for a couple of laps.
A truly magnificent day in perfect #bearacer club style!
